Many new shiny variations of Pokemon have been added to the world for Pokemon GO's Pokemon GO Fest 2020. While a lot of Pokemon GO Fest's activities and bonuses are locked behind the purchase of a paid ticket, these new shiny Pokemon are available for all players around the world.

While there aren't guaranteed ways to force a shiny Pokemon to spawn in most cases in Pokemon GO, there are ways to increase the general odds of encountering specific ones. Thanks to Pokemon GO Fest 2020's habitat mechanic, many of the new shiny Pokemon can be properly hunted for.

One of the Pokemon to get their shiny form added to Pokemon GO is the pure fire-type, Heatmor. This Pokemon was introduced in generation 5 and is known as being the primary predator for the ant themed Pokemon, Durant.

Pokemon Heatmor

The best way to hunt for a shiny Heatmor during Pokemon GO Fest 2020 is to search while inside a fire habitat. Players will know that they are currently in a fire habitat during the Pokemon GO Fest 2020 event by the falling icons on the map screen being fire-themed.

The Pokemon that have increased spawn rates inside fire habitats are:

  • Charmander
  • Charizard
  • Vulpix
  • Growlithe
  • Ponyta
  • Alolan Marowak
  • Magmar
  • Flareon
  • Houndour
  • Torchic
  • Numel
  • Tepig
  • Darumaka
  • Litwick
  • Heatmor

Habitats during the Pokemon GO Fest will change every hour, allowing players to take advantage of every Habitat eventually. When the fire habitat comes around in a player's rotation, they are recommended to use incense to increase the number of spawns to be as much as possible. Players should additionally try to catch every Pokemon that comes their way for the stardust, experience, and candies.

If players are lucky, players will encounter a shiny Heatmor that they can catch and add to their collection of shiny Pokemon. Players may also have the chance to encounter a shiny version of the various other fire-type Pokemon with increased spawn rates inside habitats. However, Heatmor is the only fire-type Pokemon with a shiny form added for this event. The exception however is Charmander, who now has a Pikachu Visor costumed version that can also appear in a shiny form.

Pokemon GO is available now in select regions on Android and iOS devices.
