After months of waiting and some early concern about how the event would even happen this year, Pokemon GO Fest 2020 has finally arrived. It is time to celebrate the four year anniversary of Pokemon GO and its community is ready to celebrate by catching some new shiny Pokemon and adding a bunch of new entries to the Pokedex.

The event kicks off around the world Saturday morning (today), so players should begin double checking the day 1 habitat schedule and preparing to power through the event's Special Research. While all of the special activities are going on, there are some spawns that players are going to want to keep an eye out for more than others. That includes a list of Pokemon who are brand new to the game and Pokemon who are going to be shiny for the first time in the mobile AR experience.

The list of confirmed new Pokemon is rather short so far and consists of three new hat variants for the Gen 1 starters and just two other Pokemon. That said, Wash Rotom and Victini are both pretty exciting additions and trainers are eager to get their hands on them. It's also very likely that additional new Pokemon will show up throughout the weekend as the event rages on and players get a chance to work through each habitat. Early spoilers hinted at some other exciting Raids and features, so keep an eye out for those, as well.

Be sure to keep incense activated to experience the event to its fullest and keep an eye on the Today View to monitor the ongoing Global Challenges that the community needs to complete to reach the Ultra unlock rewards for the coming weeks.

As trainers continue working through this amazing anniversary event, they may want to keep hunting down the best Unova Pokemon in the game if improving their Battle Raid rosters and completing their Pokedex is their primary goal. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
