The PS5 and Xbox Series X are rapidly approaching, and more information is starting to surface about both consoles. New games are being solidified, including a new Fable title for Xbox Series X and Goodbye Volcano High for the PS5.

While new games are the biggest desire for almost every player, there are other factors to consider as well. One major factor is how previous games will interact with the consoles. When it comes to the Xbox Series X, it seems Microsoft has some improvements planned for several titles.

Several big Xbox One titles are getting improvements with the release of the Xbox Series X, although, for several of those games, the improvements will come sometime after the console launches. Ori and the Will of the Wisps is getting major enhancements to performance speed and graphics, as is Forza Horizon 4.

Forza and Gears 5 will both be getting graphical improvements, faster load times, and the Series X's Quick Resume feature. Gears Tactics will see its gameplay speed improved to 60FPS/4k. Sea of Thieves will be getting improvements the same day as the Series X's launch, although what improvements were not specified.

Presumably, the graphical improvements are possible thanks to the improved power of the Xbox Series X, and the load time reductions for the same reason. The improvements will also benefit the games while playing on the Xbox One, thanks to the Xbox Smart Delivery program. The graphical improvements will be interesting to see, especially since some of the games in question, like Ori, already look fantastic. It's also a promise that contrasts with the disappointing graphics for Halo Infinite that have been displayed so far. Time will tell what the improvements amount to, and they will provide a lot of insight on what a game "optimized for Xbox Series X" really feels like.

These types of improvements are, hopefully, what can be expected of most games released for the Series X, a higher standard of quality that they will be held to. Considering PS5 and Series X AAA titles may cost more, there had better be noticeable improvements to justify the higher price tags. Comparisons of the games in question before and after the upgrades will show just how noticeable the differences that can be expected are.

In the case of price increases, players should be prepared to find a really good game and stick with it for a long time. Since games like Halo Infinite intend to improve over time, rather than be the start of a series revival with other games, commitment to an expanding experience may be the only choice for keeping one's wallet happy.
