Back in April 2018, Paragon, Epic Games’ swing at the MOBA sub-genre, was shut down due to an “unsustainable” player size but saw all of the game’s assets released for free to use in Unreal Engine 4. Now, developer Strange Matter Studios is using those same assets to rebuild the game in its own image with the early access release of Fault.

The game’s official site touts inspiration from Paragon’s Monolith map, but at a larger scale to provide players more pathing options when traveling the map. There are also some other mechanics unique to the game, including a feats system that rewards milestones during play with favor, which can be allocated into the factions the player chose at the beginning of the match to make their character stronger. The system is described as being similar to Paragon’s deck affinity or LoL’s runes.

The game is currently in early access on Steam and is eyeballing a free-to-play launch sometime in early 2021. A trailer can be seen below.
