The new Digimon Adventure reboot has been keeping fans of the classic anime guessing with its surprising departures from the original series. Last week's episode of the show ended with a brief promo video showcasing the upcoming seventh episode, which is apparently set to (re)introduce Joe Kido alongside his aquatic partner, Gomamon.

Episode 7 will follow Tai and company as they cross the digital oceans to a new continent, where they stumble upon the studious Joe Kida and his seal-like Digimon, Gomamon. One of the most notable differences between the reboot and the original Digimon series has been the drawn out introduction of the DigiDestined - whereas the original had most of the protagonists meet at summer camp and enter the Digital World together, the Digimon Adventure reboot has instead introduced the cast individually throughout the course of the first season.

After last week's official introduction of Mimi and Palmon, fans were left in anticipation of the remaining three DigiDestined/Digimon pairings: Takeru ("T.K.")/Patamon, Hikari ("Kari")/Tailmon (Gatomon), and Joe/Gomamon. Now that viewers know to expect Joe and Gomamon in the upcoming seventh episode, it's safe to say that that Takeru and Hikari will be the last to be re-introduced.

Although it's nothing new that Hikari and Gatomon are late to the adventure, fans certainly expected to see Patamon and Takeru by now. Given the pairing's angelic connection, and the fact that they are both the siblings of already-introduced characters, fans speculate they may debut together. Some sharp fans are also theorizing that Patamon won't be introduced until the team defeats Devimon when he returns (since he is technically one of Patamon's potential evolutions). Either way, it's clear that their arrivals will keep fans of the classic digital adventure on their toes.

Digimon Adventure (2020) is now airing on Crunchyroll and Fuji TV.
