Marvel's Avengers may have been delayed into September, but Square Enix still has plans for potential players to get a chance to try it out before then. On Wednesday morning Square Enix confirmed three different dates for different stages of the Marvel's Avengers beta. It'll be split between platforms, with PlayStation users gaining access earlier than PC and Xbox users. But, at the very least, all platforms will eventually have access to a Marvel's Avengers open beta.

According to IGN, PlayStation users will get early access to both the closed and open betas for Marvel's Avengers. This is due to a partnership between Square Enix and Sony, the full details of which aren't publicly known. Regardless, the pre-order closed beta for Marvel's Avengers is open to those who pre-ordered a PS4 copy of the game starts August 7. The open beta for all PS4 users will follow on August 14.

PC and Xbox One users won't have to wait too much longer to try out Marvel's Avengers for themselves. Pre-orderers can join in on the Marvel's Avengers closed beta starting August 14, the same date the PS4 beta goes open. The PC and Xbox One open beta will follow on August 21, just a couple weeks before launch.

marvel's avengers official beta plans

The exact details for the Marvel's Avengers beta have not been made fully available by Square Enix yet. For example, the closed and open betas for all platforms may only last for a handful of days, rather than a full week. Requirements for Marvel's Avengers' multiplayer features will also need to be detailed. Exact starting and stopping dates will be announced at a later date.

In fact, Square Enix has already announced when it will be sharing more information. A second Marvel's Avengers War Table presentation has been announced for July 29 at 10:00 am PT. This presentation will be dedicated to detailing everything that can be expected from the upcoming beta.

Square Enix did tease some of the content that will be available for players to try for themselves, however. According to creative director Shaun Escayg, the Marvel's Avengers beta will include campaign content, co-op missions, hero progression, as well as exploration in War Zone and a new mission named Drop Zones. In other words, it sounds like the beta will be quite substantial. Stay tuned for more information soon.

Marvel's Avengers releases September 4 on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X to follow.
