As one of the first next-gen games revealed, Godfall has a lot to live up to. However, it appears that Godfall will be taking advantage of the PS5 DualSennse's unique features, specifically with the rumble and haptic feedback, to make a more immersive experience for players.

In an interview with GameSpot, Godfall Director Keith Lee revealed how the game would be using PlayStation's refined controller. Thanks to the DualSense's Stereo Rumble feature, Godfall will let players feel weapons resonating in their hands after clashing with an enemy, a feeling that games haven't been able to simulate in the past. Of course, it doesn't stop there, the controller boasts incredible Haptic Feedback, and players will actually be able to feel different types of surfaces as they slide across them.

Sony has been open in the past about the DualSense's trigger resistance, which will make it feel more realistic when drawing a bow or swinging a sword. Godfall will take advantage of that feature too with its weaponry, making it feel all the more realistic. In addition to the haptic feedback, trigger resistance will be a major way Godfall is able to let players feel the clang of weapons against each other.

"For us, a 3D melee combat game, this becomes really exciting, because we have lots of different types of weapons," Lee stated, "we can have the clash of weapons, that there could be ways that we can notify the player if an enemy is offscreen about to attack you, because it is always very challenging to get a full awareness of your surroundings in a third-person melee combat game."

Controllers are frequently an under-appreciated aspect of video games. Until now, not noticing a controller has been something of a mark of success, proof that it works well enough to have players focus on games, rather than what they're holding. However, the new features found in the DualSense, especially Haptic Feedback, will be a massive improvement over what else is currently on the market, assuming that developers continue to support the features throughout the PS5's lifespan.

Godfall is likely one of many games that will take advantage of the DualSense's new features. It provides a wonderful opportunity to revamp how games feel to play, and it's bound to be a major factor in next-gen games as a whole,  as well as the PS5 versus Xbox Series X debate. Fans can expect the new features to be fully-utilized in PlayStation exclusive titles like Horizon: Forbidden West, though it does seem like something third-party developers will also want to take advantage of.

Godfall is in development.
