While there were many people who tuned in to today's Ubisoft Forward event to get a sneak peek at the developer's new titles coming later this year, there were some who tuned in for ulterior reasons. Ubisoft had originally promised that anyone who watched the stream a free PC copy of Watch Dogs 2, however, due to UPlay server issues, it then announced that the game would be made available free for everyone. Ubisoft has now laid out the steps for players to claim their free copy of the game.

Watch Dogs 2 originally released back in 2016 hoping to show players how fun a game about hackers could be. This sequel took players from the dark and dismal setting of Chicago in the first game to the bright and colorful hacker paradise of San Fransisco. The game was universally praised as a marked improvement in comparison to the original.

Thankfully, claiming a free copy of Watch Dogs 2 is a lot easier than learning how to actually hack. All players will have to do is navigate to the Ubisoft website and head to the Ubisoft Forward section of the site. A section labeled "Rewards Status" will be one of the first options, and all that players will need to do from there is log in to their Uplay account after clicking "Redeem Now."

In addition to their free copy of Watch Dogs 2, players will also receive a handful of unlockables for other titles as well. Most notably, they will gain access to a Ubisoft Forward Jacket for the upcoming Watch Dogs Legion, as well as the Moonlight axe for Assassin's Creed Valhalla.

After registering, a message pops up stating that players can expect their free copy of Watch Dogs 2 to show up soon in their UPlay PC libraries, as well as the other unlockables. That being said, there are many players who have tweeted after going through this redemption process, and hours later have still not received their copy of the game. Still, there hasn't been any word as to when this offer will end, so it may be better to jump on and register as soon as possible.

Watch Dogs 2 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
