Earlier today, Ubisoft premiered its long-awaited Forward broadcast, revealing some major new announcements about the company's biggest projects. Assassin's Creed Valhalla got a major gameplay showcase, with the team behind the title revealing how its new setting will influence the series' staple gameplay, while Ubisoft also announced it would be entering the Battle Royale market with a title called Hyper Scape.

Of course, the big final reveal was a new trailer for Far Cry 6, which was unfortunately leaked a few days ago after press images and details surrounding the franchise's sixth entry made their way onto the PlayStation Store. The trailer at the showcase highlighted a lot more of the game's central location, its tone, and Giancarlo Esposito's main antagonist. Yet, strangely, no gameplay was shown.

Luckily, it seems Ubisoft was content to release a few screenshots to press publications, with the company revealing four new in-game images that unveil a lot more about what fans can expect from the sequel. All four of the released shots are stunning, offering striking visual clarity never before seen in the Far Cry franchise. The first sees the protagonist sneaking through what appears to be an enemy outpost, with armed soldiers and a tank stationed at the end of the street. The player's gun is also of particular interest, with it seeming to bear some attachments and upgrades; a feature that has been key to the series for a while now.

The second image is much more action-packed, seeing the player engaging in an intense firefight with the local militia during an intense rainstorm. The weapon they're brandishing appears to be a heavy-duty flamethrower, with one enemy nearby scrambling away while on fire. Again, the shot is a strong indicator that the game will look utterly stunning, with the stormy local brimming with detail. The third shot offers a few more hints towards new gameplay options possibly coming to the title, with the player looking down through a village while armed with what looks to be a modded DIY gun.

It seems crafting insane weapons will still be a core part of the game. Alongside that is a horse, which players will assumedly be able to ride, and a nearby plane ejecting crimson smoke, while the luscious view provides a better look at Yara's tropical setting.

The final image highlights two characters, with the one on the left giving fans their first clean look at the game's protagonist, Dani Rojas. The other character is holding an adorable puppy, Chorizo, as well, so, of course, Twitter has been flooded with players wanting a closer look at the adorable animal. Overall, it seems as though Far Cry 6 will offer the same addicting game loop the franchise has provided for years, with some better visuals, new mechanics, and an original story.

Far Cry 6 will launch February 18, 2021, for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
