A new hotfix for Borderlands 3 went live on July 9, and it brings two notable fixes to Gearbox Software's highly-popular looter shooter. Players can install this Borderlands 3 update right now by waiting at the game's main menu until they receive the "Hotfixes Applied" notification, and here are details on exactly what the patch does.

To start, the July 9 BLhotfix "patched a hole in the Atrium of the Bounty of Blood campaign add-on" with the intention of preventing fans from going through the wall in that location. While this fix is not likely to impact a great number of players, Gearbox has included it in the patch notes for the recent update, and it is thus being noted here.

There is something slightly more significant in this week's BL3 patch, though, and that is a fix for the Lucky 7 legendary pistol. As many players will know, this Jakobs gun has a chance to gain a bonus effect upon reload, but those damage effects were not being maintained if a Moze player exited their Iron Bear while they were active. This has been rectified in the recent Borderlands 3 hotfix, and fans of Moze should now feel free to dust off their Lucky 7 pistols.

bl3 july 9 update

This is the full extent of the BL3 July 9 update, but Gearbox has taken its launch as opportunity to acknowledge some other concerns it is keeping an eye on. Namely, it has been discovered that Mayhem 10 enemies are dealing damage beyond what was initially intended, and the developer indicates that it is "looking into how [this] could be addressed in a future patch." Additionally, Gearbox is looking at making shields that deal damage to enemies scale with Mayhem levels, and fans can expect that to come in future updates as well.

Indeed, it is is clear that the developer is still not totally satisfied with Mayhem Mode despite all of the alterations that have been made to it since the initial release of Borderlands 3. While it remains to be seen exactly how significant the impact of the aforementioned changes will be, many fans will simply be happy to know that Gearbox is not done with its work on BL3's endgame.

Borderlands 3 is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
