Updated on October 13, 2021, by Jason Wojnar: Depending on how on paces themselves, The Last of Us Part 2 can be beaten over a week or a month. Given that the narrative is so big, there are many moments and secrets players can miss if they don't pay attention to their surroundings.

With this in mind, it was a good idea to revisit this list and point out more hidden secrets many players may miss. Most of the new entries are more focused on hidden details and easter eggs.

14 Savage Starlight Poster

Ellie's Room is filled with memorabilia and generally looks like a young adult's living quarters. Despite being the post-apocalypse, some things never change. One of the many posters on the wall is a cover for a fictional comic book called Savage Starlight.

Fans of the first game will recognize this as the collectible comic book Joel finds for Ellie throughout the adventure. Looks like her fandom did not wane in the years between the first and second game.

13 0451 Combination

0451 last of us part 2

Early in the game, there is a safe that players unlock with the code 0451. This combination will be familiar to almost any gamer, especially those who enjoy immersive sims.

The particular number is a common code in many games from Looking Glass Studios and Arkane. It does not have any special significance other than becoming a common video game easter egg.

12 Dr. Uckman Trading Card

Doctor Uckmann last of us part 2

Where the first game sees players collecting comic books, The Last of Us Part II tasks players with finding trading cards. One of the cards is for a character called Doctor Uckmann, an easter egg hiding in plain sight.

This is a clear reference to executive producer and writer Neil Druckmann, one of the creators of the franchise. The card depicts him as an evil scientist. The character on the card even looks like the game designer.

11 Joel Is Still Wearing The Watch Sarah Gave Him

The Last of Us 2 Future Days

The first game begins with Joel's daughter, Sarah, gifting him a watch. Anyone who played the first game for at least 15 minutes knows that his daughter sadly dies. However, he keeps wearing the watch as a memento of his late daughter.

Observant players will see that he still keeps this watch on during his short appearance in the sequel. Even though it happened a long time ago and he is in a better place at the start of the game, he never forgot Sarah.

10 Take On Me

The first area in Seattle is an open environment players can explore with numerous optional buildings. One of these is a music shop nearby the start of the chapter.

Dina sits behind the drums and fools around and the player can appreciate the shop's detail. Go upstairs to find a guitar where Ellie will serenade Dina with a cover of A-ha's "Take On Me".

9 Climbing The Dinosaur

One flashback sees Joel surprise Ellie with a trip to a museum for her birthday. At the entrance to the location, the two are greeted by a T-Rex. Ellie is simply awestruck by this view.

The player can take things a step further and climb up the dinosaur's back, much to Joel's worry. Ellie eventually jumps from the display's head into the water below, scaring Joel half to death.

8 Uncharted And Jak And Daxter On PS3

Throughout the world. Ellie happens upon numerous dusty PlayStation 3 consoles. They are always the old models, which somewhat breaks the immersion considering the abundance of slim and super slim models out in the world by 2013.

Additionally, not a single Xbox 360 is in sight. The game cases lying by these consoles are always Uncharted and Jak and Daxter titles. Fans will immediately recognize these as two series Naughty Dog created before The Last of Us.

7 Sam's Toy

Ellie's room in Jackson is brimming with little secrets and Easter eggs. One particularly haunting secret is a toy near her bed.

Those who played the first one recall the toy she saved for Sam in the first game, a young boy traveling with his older brother who eventually got bit and turned. In the first game, Joel comments about the necessity to move on from tragedy and never talk about it, but Ellie keeps the toy as a reminder.

6 Strange Relic In Chinatown

last of us 2 strange relic chinatown

During the first day in Seattle while playing as Abby, enter a store in Chinatown with "Red Dragon" written on it. Go up the stairs, clear the Clickers, and cross a small gap into another building.

From here go left, and not up the stairs, to find the strange artifact on a table. As is the case with most Naughty Dog games since Uncharted, the artifact is a Precursor orb from Jak and Daxter.

5 Putting A Hat On Joel

Eventually, she can put the hat on her father figure, leading up to a cute bonding moment and a trophy. In the same area sits a mirror Ellie gazes into while the player changes her facial expression with the controller.

4 Jak X Combat Racing

One area of the game sees Ellie enter a bar with a serious arcade collection. Players may not initially appreciate the surroundings closely because a Bloater soon tries to kill Ellie, but take a moment afterward to observe the games displayed.

One of them is Jak X Combat Racing, the last game Naughty Dog made in their popular PlayStation 2 franchise. Will fans see a Last of Us racing game after a third entry in the series?

3 Pallet

Last of us pallet

Joel often used a pallet to help ferry Ellie across rivers and bodies of water in the first game because the young girl could not swim. In between the two narratives, he teaches her how to maneuver in the water.

In the museum flashback, while swimming in between two buildings, Ellie can find a pallet stuck on some submerged stairs. Approach it to initiate a tongue-in-cheek dialogue about the piece of equipment.

2 Crash Bandicoot Reference

the last of us animal crossing art

In the opening hours, Dina and Ellie come across a room where a recently deceased comrade was growing marijuana. They also happen upon this character's stash of adult films.

One of the titles they read is an obvious reference to the old Naughty Dog franchise, Crash Bandicoot. The title is too NSFW to be mentioned here, but the first word is "Smash", a synonym for "crash". While it is an unavoidable story moment, only veteran fans of the developer will recognize the allusion to Crash.

1 Drake's Ring

Last of us 2 drake's ring in bak vault

In the open Seattle area during Ellie and Dina's first day there, the two can enter a bank where they discover a robbery gone wrong from outbreak day. Inside the vault, Ellie finds a shotgun, and nearby in a safety deposit box lies a special collectible ring.

Inscribed on it is "Sic Parvis Magna," a phrase also inscribed on Nathan Drake's ring from Uncharted.

The Last of Us Part 2 was released on June 19, 2020, and is available on PlayStation 4.
