Rune II, the ill fated Norse RPG experience from Ragnorok games, is getting a huge overhaul as a new PTR update lands.
After launching back in 2019 and failing to light up the gaming scene, publisher Ragnarok formed a new development team and Studio 369 has been hard at work tackling the issues that many critics raised with the title on initial release. Set in a dangerous Norse universe during the end of days, Rune II is a mix of might and magic, where gods, beasts, and the last remaining humans struggle to survive. After Loki plunges Midgard into perpetual chaos, you are chosen to embark on a perilous journey to end Ragnarok. Now the latest PTR update is hopefully going to make Rune II as epic as it sounds.
Available to all RUNE II players via the Public Test Realm (PTR) branch, this is the latest major update since Lazarus dropped, and completely rebuilds the first chapter of this experience. Instead of repeating the same tasks until players are powerful enough to kill the god of mischief, Loki, the Ages of Ragnarok progresses in a linear fashion, hopefully avoiding a bunch of tedious grind. In addition, the existing tutorial has been rebuilt from the ground up, providing a more intuitive entry to the world of ancient gods. With another thirty or more quest updates planned for a new narrative direction, it looks like Rune II might live up to initial expectations in time.
The full list of changes made to patch 1.1.15472 can be found over on the official Rune II PTR website, including everything from improved Villager waving animations to a bunch of secret “[REDACTED]” bonuses for players.
