Anthony Mackie, the actor for Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has shared some insight regarding the filming process of the upcoming television show Falcon and the Winter Soldier. The main takeaway from Mackie's claims is that he says the show is being filmed as if it were a six to eight hour movie rather than a standard television show.

Mackie is one of the leads of the upcoming Marvel show alongside co-star Sebastian Stan (the Winter Soldier), so it stands to reason that he's spent a lot of time on the set. What's more, Mackie has worked on more than a few TV shows in the last couple years.

The actor also touches on some other points, including how the Coronavirus has put their filming at a standstill. Mackie says he is unsure of when he will be able to return to work on the show but is eager to do so.

It will be interesting to see if this movie like approach has an effect on how the show turns out. There are a number of fundamental principles that are very different between a movie and a television show, which are usually the cause of why the filming processes are different. For example, a television show needs to make fans want to come back and watch again at the end of every episode whereas a movie doesn't necessarily have that problem. Odds are the producers have taken this kind of stuff into account, but only time will tell for sure.

Also, the approach could be a way of catering to the stars of the show, most of which are typically movie stars rather than television stars. It's a well known fact that many famous movie actors don't work in television because of how different the process is, so by merging the two it could make the actors more comfortable. Mackie didn't elaborate on whether or not other Marvel TV shows are using this same method or not, but it is certainly a possibility. Depending on how well this works, it could become a standard practice for the studio.

Mackie continues on to say that the stunt work for the show have reached a completely new level, praising Marvel for the way they push the boundaries of both movies and television with each new release. It seems as though Falcon and The Winter Soldier will be a treat for fans once it finally releases on Disney+.
