It's been pretty obvious from the get go that the Outer Worlds Nintendo Switch port is plagued with major issues. Although the choice-driven RPG has been lauded on its other platforms, Outer Worlds doesn't look too good on the Switch, but that looks like it may change soon.

While the PC, Xbox, and PS4 versions have been available since October 2019, the Switch version of Outer Wilds was not available until June 5, 2020. With all of that time, players expected a lot from the Switch port, but instead got graphical issues and bugs. Players complained the game's frame rate was incredibly bad, the textures were blurry, and there were many bugs, while graphically intense games like Witcher 3 run on the Switch relatively well.

Luckily for those who bought Outer Worlds on the Switch, it looks like the devs have listened to complaints and are planning a massive update. Private Division tweeted out on June 25 that a patch for the Switch version is already in the works, and "the team at Virtuos is investigating to further improve the game's performance.Hopefully, along with this patch, players will get more information on the possible DLC for the game coming to Switch.

There is a reason why Outer Worlds grabbed up the DICE Award for best RPG last year, and it's a real shame that Switch players haven't gotten the full experience because of a bad port. It seems unbelievable that such a beautiful game was released with what some fans called "Nintendo 64 graphics." Hopefully this patch will turn the Switch port of Outer Worlds into the game it should have been from the beginning.

Outer Worlds is available for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
