The Destiny 2 database usually gets flooded with new items and entries when a season launches, hinting at what's to come later on. This season is no different, as the database gives a very detailed description of upcoming questlines.

It is worth noting that Bungie has not officially unveiled most of the content that players have datamined, so spoilers will follow. Still, knowing what is coming later in Season of Arrivals could help players prepare.

One of the shorter pursuits coming to Destiny 2 in Season of Arrivals is the "Missive" quest to unlock the Ruinous Effigy exotic. The quest states that the pyramids will grant Guardians a weapon upon the completion of the listed tasks.

At the beginning of the quest, players will be required to collect Calcified Light. In Destiny: The Taken Kingplayers have to collect Calcified Fragments to craft the Touch of Malice exotic. It is even said in one of the Missive quest steps that Touch of Malice acts as a blueprint for the weapon Guardians are about to uncover.

The gun will be awarded upon the decryption of a special exotic engram called "Gift." This is similar to the finale of the Thunderlord exotic quest, which also ended with Guardians decrypting a unique engram containing the quest reward. At its conclusion, the Missive questline will unlock the exotic trace rifle called Ruinous Effigy. The quest steps repeatedly make reference to a "branch," which fits Ruinous Effigy's design and suggests that the gun originates from "the tree of silver wings" on Io.

Furthermore, Ruinous Effigy's masterwork objectives reveal the mystery behind Savathun's Eyes. These Taken entities can't be destroyed at the moment and players suspected that they might be similar to the Taken eggs in the Dreaming City in that they can only be destroyed by a specific exotic weapon. The masterwork requirements for Ruinous Effigy indeed include the destruction of Savathun's Eyes, which are scattered across the system.

Next are the Rare Weekly Bounties that are linked to the "Preparation" questline. All 4 destinations (Io, Titan, Mercury, Mars) that will be vaulted when Beyond Light launches are getting these weekly bounties and there are 8 variants for each destination. All of them award an Exodus-Focused Umbral Engram as well as 200 Altered Element. The Preparation is split up into 4 chapters, each chapter coinciding with a destination and requiring the completion of one weekly bounty from that destination.

Similar to Preparation, the "Evacuation" questline will also take players on a journey across these four destinations. Currently, it isn't exactly clear how these two pursuits play off of each other, but if the pyramids will invade destinations gradually, these questlines could move in tandem, making players prepare and then evacuate a location before moving onto the next to repeat the cycle. Story-wise, players would get the sense of being pushed into a corner by the Darkness, driven off of space colonies one by one.

All in all, these two quest chains should be a proper sendoff for Io, Titan, Mercury, and Mars. The quests could prove to be tedious, especially for veterans, but they will push players to fully experience these legacy destinations one last time before they move to the Destiny Content Vault. While the Preparation is a legendary tier pursuit, Evacuation is exotic, indicating that it will culminate in an exotic piece of loot, most likely the Traveler's Chosen sidearm.

This exotic weapon also hearkens back to an old Destiny quest exotic, namely, Khvostov 7G-0X. Khvostov's basic version was the first weapon Destiny players found in the vanilla campaign, similar to how Traveler's Chosen was the first weapon players held in Destiny 2's vanilla campaign.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
