In the absence of major live events such as E3 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, multiple online digital showcases have been running concurrently. One ongoing event is IGN's Summer of Gaming, which has hosted showcases of games such as 3D Realms' Ghostrunner, but one of the planned offerings for today that would focus on Bethesda's Fallout 76 mysteriously disappeared from the schedule before anything could be shown off.

The before-and-after images of IGN's event schedule were cataloged by Twitter user CaptainShishou earlier today. In the first image, it shows a gameplay event meant to talk about Fallout 76's DLC roadmap alongside interviews with the developers of Gunfire Games' Remnant: From the Ashes and SEGA's Humankind — recently delayed to 2021. In the second image Bethesda is gone, with Larian Studios' Baldur's Gate 3 now revealed as what was previously an "unannounced" title.

While it is not entirely clear why Bethesda dropped out of today's Summer of Gaming festivities, rumors have suggested the developer may be planning a standalone event to replace what would have been its E3 showings this year. Other developers like EA have done the same, and judging by the reaction to Skate 4 being announced at today's EA Play event alongside other titles there is a good chance this would garner Bethesda a lot of attention.

That being said, Bethesda has been active at other events hosted within the last few weeks. At Sony's PlayStation 5 reveal event, for example, one game that was showcase was Arkane Studios' first-person shooter Deathloop being published by Bethesda.

As far as Fallout 76's DLC goes, Bethesda will need to be careful when discussing whatever is coming next to the game. After the success of the Wastelanders DLC expansion, the company announced multiple new seasons of content coming in the near future. However, poor verbiage led fans to believe only the first new wave of content would be free, and Bethesda had to clarify that the same applies to all of Fallout 76's Seasons.

Despite the game's rise from the infamy of broken promises upon its initial release, Fallout 76 has experienced other problems as of late. The developers had to disable the annual Fasnacht Parade event after players discovered a major bug, so whenever Bethesda reschedules its roadmap discussion it will have to do a lot of work to help keep its playerbase.

Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
