New World, the upcoming MMORPG from Amazon Games, is about to give players a glimpse of the frontier when Closed Beta kicks off in July 2020.
Announced last night on the PC Gaming Show, the New World Closed Beta will begin on 23 July 2020. The imminent beta test is a major milestone on the road to release for this massive multiplayer title. After initial rumours back in 2018 on Redditt and a slither of detail here and there, New World is finally about to give players a chance to jump into this new experience en masse before it goes live proper. Anybody who pre-orders this Amazon title will instantly secure access to the world of Aeternum and everything that it holds during closed beta.
What’s In Store
During the announcement on last night’s gaming show, the team behind New World also dropped a shiny trailer, just in case you aren’t quite sure what to expect in this vas and dangerous frontier. Taking place on a mysterious island, during the twilight of the Age of Exploration, players will find themselves in a massive open-world environment, free to explore and overcome all the obstacles that this unknown landscape holds. Central to New World is the massive battles that players can take part in. The fortress sieges and opportune Player vs Player encounters that are built into the very fabric of your adventure should be in a much better state than the gank fest that plagued the game during earlier test phases. It’s not just other players that adventurous types need to watch out for in New World. Hordes of undead and supernatural invasions tear across the battlefield, featuring up to 100 players in a dynamic combat environment. It all sounds pretty intense but New World promises ample opportunity for soldiers, explorers, artisans and empire-builders as they band together in near-limitless play, with classless character progression, social systems, and rich crafting mechanics.
