While Hello Games has made a name for itself with the space exploring survival game No Man's Sky, the studio announced a smaller-scale game called The Last Campfire at The Game Awards 2018. A trailer for the game debuted at the 2020 PC Gaming Show today, and though not much more about its mechanics were shown in the minute-long video, it was revealed that The Last Campfire will be releasing exclusively on the Epic Games Store for PC.

It was announced the game would be coming to Nintendo Switch alongside PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One during a Nintendo Indie Showcase in March, but at the time there was no indication that an Epic Games exclusivity deal was in the works. The game is a puzzle adventure title that follows a lost ember trying to find its way home and bringing life to other lost souls along the way.

The Last Campfire is listed as having a still-vague summer 2020 release window on the Epic Games Store's list of titles showcased at this year's PC Gaming Show, with more announcements such as the Epic Games Store release of ZA/UM's Disco Elysium coming from the Guerrilla Collective event. There is no indication whether The Little Campfire's exclusivity is timed or not, but a Steam wishlist option is still listed on its website as of this writing.

As The Last Campfire continues its slow march toward release, Hello Games has also been announcing updates for the continually changing No Man's Sky. For instance, No Man's Sky just released on Xbox Game Pass, and cross-play between PC, PS4, and Xbox One became available at the same time.

The Epic Games Store has been thriving thanks to its access to exclusive titles, but Epic Games also has multiple other ventures currently keeping it in the spotlight. The free-to-play battle royale Fortnite is seemingly as popular as ever, and the developer unveiled its new Unreal Engine 5 during Geoff Keighley's Summer Game Fest.

Regardless of where it will be available, Hello Games' upcoming title looks as charming as ever in its new PC Gaming Show trailer. Hopefully, there will soon be a more specific date as to when players can expect to get their hands on The Last Campfire, because it sure feels like it has been a long time coming.

The Last Campfire will be available on Epic Games Store, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One in summer 2020.
