Betawatch: New World aims for familiarity, Blue Protocol plans beta stream

Finally.

For a game entitled New World, the upcoming title from Amazon sure does feel familiar if you’re an MMO veteran. After all, the progression system? That’s pretty understandable for any veterans. Crafting and player housing? You know how that works. Not that any of that is a bad thing. Just a familiar thing.

Are you familiar with all of this week’s beta news, though? Let’s high some highlights.

Boats in space! Japanese games! New worlds! What amazing new vistas can be found down below in the list? Well, mostly familiar ones, actually, because that’s all about the games we know are in testing. Of course, if something skipped test phases and we missed it, please do let us know down in the comments. It’s appreciated.

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.

Yes, MMO gamers, you too can perform the unpaid quality-control work otherwise known as game testing!
