Old version of Dead Island 2 leaks online

An older version of Deep Silver's seemingly-troubled Dead Island 2 has been leaked online.

As reported by Eurogamer, a version of the title from June 2015 was uploaded to 4chan's /V/ image board. That's 12 months after the project was first announced during PlayStation's E3 2014 press conference when Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager was handling development duties.

In July 2015, Yager and Deep Silver parted ways on the project with the publisher revealing it had turned to the UK's Sumo Digital to work on Dead Island 2 in March 2016. In 2018, the IP's Twitter account insisted that development was still underway.

That doesn't appear to have gone too well, either, with Deep Silver bringing in its own Dambuster Studios to develop the title in August 2019.

At the end of that year, the boss of Deep Silver parent company Koch Media Klemens Kundratitz said that it was vital that the company got Dead Island 2 right.
