With rumors seeming to telegraph the franchise's return for a while now, it seems many are expecting big things from Silent Hill in the near future. Not only has Konami been quite vocal in admitting that it wants to bring back the dormant horror IP, but several Silent Hill rumors have claimed that the title is well on its way to returning, both in the form of a standard sequel and a choice-based adventure game similar to that of Telltale's The Walking Dead.

It seems more evidence supporting the return of the franchise has just come out from known leaker AestheticGamer, who claims that, if the stories surrounding Japan Studios developing the next game in the franchise are true, it should be unveiled very soon. To be precise, the leaker cites that the title will likely be revealed at either PlayStation's June 4 event or in August, claiming that it "SHOULD be the 4th as the team is excited to reveal it."

The official tweet reads "I'll lay this out again bluntly: Silent Hill if the Japan Studios, Toyama directing, etc, stuff is all true will either be revealed on the 4th or in August." He also goes on to clarify the prevailing rumor surrounding the title, claiming "the game is PS5 exclusive and it's in a playable state." According to AestheticGamer, the only reason PlayStation wouldn't show it "is it's not a launch game." Naturally, it's worth taking the leak with a pinch of salt for now as even the leaker himself seems to not be entirely certain of the facts, while Konami has been fairly silent on the franchise until earlier this year, so an announcement so soon does seem hasty.

That being said, AesthesticGamer has been very vocal in recent months regarding a lot of Silent Hill and Resident Evil rumors, with several of his leaks lining up with reports from other outlets. Hopefully, this means the game is shown off at PlayStation's reveal event, especially as fans have been dying for the series return for years now.

Of course, the last fans saw of a mainline Silent Hill entry was Hideo Kojima's notoriously canceled take on the franchise, with P.T going down as one of the greatest horror experiences to ever grace consoles despite the fact it was merely a demo. With fans never getting to play Kojima's ill-fated Silent Hills, it seems some form of replacement will be welcomed with open arms by the series' fanbase.

A new Silent Hill game is rumored to be in development.
