Destiny 2 has received many quality of life updates throughout the years. Time and again, the community has greatly appreciated seemingly insignificant features or changes as these emphasize Bungie’s dedication to polish and attention to detail.

As the game evolves and grows, the needs of the player base shift in Destiny 2. The studio usually only announces major Destiny updates before the patch notes arrive and so there's no way to know what is coming in the future. But here are some changes that the game hopefully receives this summer or in the fall.

Shader Inventory

The rate at which new shaders are introduced increased as Destiny 2 moved to its current seasonal moden, with every season adding new activities, a season pass, and cosmetics like shaders. Customization and inventory management would be more pleasant if players didn’t have to hold shaders in their inventories anymore.

Armor ornaments or Emotes don’t need to be borrowed from Collections to be applied, and it would make sense for shaders to work the same way. There could still be a cost associated with applying them, but a player should be able to see all shaders they've collected when in the gear customization tab.

Shader Application

Destiny 2’s shader system is more flexible than its predecessor, as it allows players to apply shaders to individual gear pieces. However, upon previewing the perfect shader, it is tedious to have to go into every piece and apply it, especially considering inventory load times - primarily on consoles. An “Apply to all” button that inserted the shader on all pieces would be excellent.

Cosmetic Preview Rotation

Following player feedback, Sparrow previews were updated to allow players to rotate the item they are inspecting. This was done to give players a chance to see what a sparrow looks like from the rear since that’s the view players most often see in-game. Weapon and ship previews should also receive the same treatment since they too are often seen from the rear/side. Also, since most cosmetics are now sold directly from Eververse and not easily farmable via Bright Engrams, being able to rotate items would help inform a player's purchase.

Armor Previews

Players should be able to preview an entire armor set when they spot it in Collections. This could also inform players about whether it is worth purchasing or pursuing a specific armor set. Even if a player had once collected every armor piece from, say, Zavala, the only way for them to preview the entire set without having every piece in their inventory is to get a rank-up package from the vendor, and preview the engram.

Games like World of Warcraft allow users to see entire armor sets in the “Appearances” tab - alongside individual piece previews - and so should Destiny 2. A simple button next to the five-piece set seen inside Collections would make the fashion game much simpler.

Destiny 2 is available on PC, PS4, Stadia and Xbox One.
