Not many CRPGs get made anymore despite the overwhelming success of Baldur's Gate and the Neverwinter Nights series. There are still a few that get made, though, one of which is Divinity: Original Sin 2. This behemoth of an RPG has enough content to keep players engaged for hundreds of hours, but this playtime can balloon further with mods.

Content mods aren't common for Original Sin 2, but the number of mods that range from overhauls to quality of life changes provides just enough incentive to try another playthrough. This game has a few issues, but well-made mods put Original Sin 2 on another level of quality entirely. Here are several Divinity: Original Sin 2 mods that make the game even better.

People who are either getting into this title for the first time or clocking in another 100+ hour playthrough will love messing around with the many mods they can download for this stellar title.

Unfortunately, this skill needs to be activated every single time, and the instances of its use aren't always that obvious.

This can cause players to miss entertaining encounters and puzzle solutions, which can become pretty grating after a point. Thankfully, with the Infinity Spirit Vision mod, players don't have to manually trigger this power every single time, which will save them the headache of wondering if they've missed out on a ghostly encounter because they forgot to turn Spirit Vision on.

18 Epic Encounters: Origins

Epic Encounters: Origins is arguably the most ambitious, comprehensive overhaul mod one can find for Divinity: Original Sin 2. The number of changes here is staggering, ranging from balance tweaks to the addition of new progression systems. Covering all of them would warrant an article on its own, but here's a cliff notes version of what has been added or changed:

• A new progression system named Ascension has been added. Similar to Grim Dawn's Constellation system, players can allocate points into a multitude of skill trees for various build-defining buffs. This runs alongside Original Sin 2's standard character progression.
• Status effects have seen a major overhaul. Stunlocking has been removed and replaced with the tiered Battered and Harried status effects. Players will need to utilize both physical and magic damage over multiple turns to apply powerful status effects on targets. This results in a game that is much less focused on CCing enemies to death.
• Source is now a core part of combat, allowing players to infuse their skills with powerful secondary effects.
• Nearly every skill and item has been rebalanced.

Veterans who can't stand Divinity's combat balance need to give this mod a try. It does an excellent job of shifting Original Sin 2's combat to a more tactical turn-based RPG than what Larian accomplished. Its Ascension system is also expertly done, granting the addictive character progression and build diversity seen in ARPGs without taking away from Original Sin 2's CRPG roots.

Action Points govern all the actions a character can perform during their turn in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Maintaining a decent store of AP is important to ensure that players can whip out the techniques they want during their turn without being completely overwhelmed by their opponents. However, despite how well-balanced the game is, there are times when players may feel that the vanilla 6 AP is so low that they can't get anything done.

Thankfully, players can opt for the 8 AP mod instead, increasing this limit quite a bit and allowing them to be less stingy about using up their AP during every turn. While some people may argue that the game itself has an option for the same, enabling that form of 8 AP leads to achievements being disabled, which may not be ideal for some players who want to enjoy the best of both worlds.

15 Void Knight Class

There is a wealth of classes that players can mess around with in Divinity: Original Sin 2, but people who have gone through the game over and over again may get bored of repeatedly using the same skills, especially with a whopping six party members aiding them every step of the way. This is why custom class mods have become all the rage for the game, with the Void Knight being one particularly enticing class that many players love.

Not only is this class devilishly strong, but it also allows players to transform into a Void Dragon at the highest level. It's easy to see why so many players love this class so much, with the strategic depth brought over by its inclusion making it more than worth its price of entry.

14 Improved Camera

Having a set angle tied to the camera isn't uncommon in isometric RPG titles like Baldur's Gate or Fallout, but this restriction can result in clunky exploration or combat encounters. Original Sin 2's camera is by no means bad, but it could be better.

Improved Camera aims to fix this by allowing full control over the camera. It is now possible to tilt the camera to any angle the player wishes, letting them get extremely close to a character or look across the grand environments that are otherwise hard to appreciate. It's important to note, however, that the game wasn't intended for a camera this flexible, as some characters and environments will look strange when viewed from certain angles.

One thing Divinity: Original Sin 2 nails is its armor design. Even the lower-level gear looks distinct and worth wearing for visuals alone. The problem is that Larian didn't include a proper transmogrification system in the game.

Luckily, modders have added a pseudo-transmog system into the game. Vanity allows players to store the appearance of the armor in a ring and apply it to any armor set they want. It can feel a little unintuitive initially, but this mod is the best option for adding proper transmog into Original Sin 2.

Farming new gear for builds can be fun in loot-heavy games such as Borderlands, but it can feel ill-placed in more story-centric RPGs like Divinity. Gear in Divinity: Original Sin 2 does not scale with the player's level.

Automatic Item Leveling does exactly as one would expect. Every time the player levels up, the game will update that character's gear to match their new level. Miscellaneous stats are also upgraded. This allows players to spend less time earning levels before farming certain items and more time playing the game at their own pace. While this falls closer to a cheat mod than anything else, it does let players focus more on the game's story instead of its itemization system.

The Epic Encounters: Origins mod already has an item upgrading system in place, making this mod redundant when both are used together.

10 Fort Joy Respec

Fort Joy is the first major area players explore in Divinity: Original Sin 2. It's also the area where they might realize that their build is nowhere near ideal to tackle the various threats present in the game.

Unfortunately, there's a long way to go before players get the opportunity to respec their character. Thankfully, with the Fort Joy respec mod, players who want to tweak their characters instantly can do the same with relative ease.

9 Divinity Unleashed

One of Original Sin 2's most popular overhauls, Divinity Unleashed is an ambitious overhaul of the game's core mechanics to shake up combat and stat attributes. Players should be aware that a script extender is required to play this, which should hint at just how many changes this mod makes.

Above all, Divinity Unleashed is a combat overhaul focused on removing the abundant stun-locking that occurred in the base game. In its place are a multitude of intelligent balance tweaks and new systems that enhance build diversity and tactical options in combat, all while leaving Original Sin 2's difficulty intact.

A full list of changes can be found here, and some of the mod's largest changes are listed below.

• Armor now grants flat damage reduction instead of a second health bar.
• Armor no longer blocks status effects.
• Crowd control status effects were reworked to provide powerful debuffs instead. Skipping turns has been replaced with lowered movement speed, lower AP gains, and elemental weaknesses. In general, this makes Original Sin 2's combat much faster and less reliant on alpha-striking.
• Attributes and ability bonuses were overhauled to provide more build-enabling bonuses.
• Nearly every skill was rebalanced with the combat changes in mind.

These changes dramatically change how combat pans out, turning Original Sin 2 into a much more tactical RPG. The massive rebalance in Divinity Unleashed also means that build variety is in a much better spot than in vanilla. Veteran players tired of alpha-striking enemies on turn one should give this mod a try.

How Does Divinity Unleashed Compare To Epic Encounters: Origins?

Divinity Unleashed is much easier to understand and install. While that mod can be used in the middle of any playthrough with little issue, Epic Encounters requires a new game save. Some might also consider Epic Encounters' changes too radical for their liking. For players who want a combat overhaul and nothing else, Divinity Unleashed is an excellent choice. Players who want Divinity: Original Sin 2 to feel like an entirely new game will love Epic Encounter: Origins.

8 Free Pet Pal
