Announced at last year's Game Awards, Fast and Furious: Crossroads has remained fairly silent since its debut at Geoff Keighley's incredibly popular award show. The game, which sees the likes of Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, and Tyrese Gibson reprise their incredible popular roles, will allow players to experience the Fast and Furious franchise like never before, as they get involved with high-speed chases similar to those that made the film franchise such a box office success.

It seems the video game adaptation broke its silence yesterday, however, with Bandai Namco dropping a fresh gameplay trailer alongside a new release date for the upcoming tie-in. The game will officially launch on August 7, 2020, with the new trailer highlighting a large chunk of gameplay that gives players a better look at what they can expect when the game launches later this year.

The gameplay highlights a handful of missions involving the Fast and Furious crew, including a high-speed chase with a heavily-armed hover boat, a battle with a colossal tank, a treacherous descent through a desert landslide, and perhaps most crazily, a scene showing the crew pursuing a speeding rocket. Throughout these various encounters, the trailer shows different ways for the crew to defeat their adversaries, with one shot showing Dom's car spouting wheel spikes and another seeing the player's car attached to a giant wrecking ball as they swipe at their pursuers.

Naturally, it seems the game is looking to replicate the larger than life nature of the series of movies it's based off, boasting high-speed chases, insane gadgets, over-the-top vehicles, and explosive set-pieces. Fans of the movies will seemingly feel right at home with the adaptation's chaotic action, with the game looking to truly serve as the Fast and Furious experience ported across into video game form.

However, it seems some have had reservations about the game so far, with many pointing out the dated visual style. In the comments of the gameplay trailer's YouTube video, one viewer remarks, "Wow this graphics really put the PS2 system to its limits," while another claims "I legit thought that this is a mobile game." It seems many are worried the game also won't be the most challenging to play, with a number of fans picking up on the fact that the title seems to not require much input. One claimed "this just looks like drive straight simulator," while another jokingly stated "Cutscenes: The Game." It seems Fast and Furious: Crossroads will have a lot of people to win over when it drops this August.

Fast and Furious: Crossroads will be available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on August 7, 2020.
