The producer of Dead by Daylight announced a new feature that will be added to the game by the end of the year. Many fans have been asking for this change for a while and will be excited to finally see it in the game.

Dead by Daylight is a popular multiplayer horror game that has been receiving many routine updates, adding new content like more Survivors and Killers that players can be in the game. Behavior Interactive has been celebrating the game’s fourth anniversary, and on May 26, the studio hosted a special livestream in honor of the occasion. Behavior Interactive also teased that the studio would be making a “jaw-dropping reveal” on the stream. Viewers who tuned in were not disappointed.

Stefan Beauchamp-Daniel, the producer working on Dead by Daylight, spoke on the livestream with the game’s director Mathieu Côté and confirmed that the game would be receiving a crossplay feature. This feature will be added to the game by the end of the year and will allow friends across all platforms except for mobile to play together in modes such as Surviving with Friends and private matches.

The exact release date of the crossplay feature wasn’t mentioned, but the studio did say that the update would be experienced first by those who play on PC. This is a normal occurrence for new chapters and features for the game, since Dead by Daylight’s test servers are on the PC, so players on that platform will be able to try out the cross-play features first. After that (and some time before the year ends), cross-play will expand to the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. Cross-progression is also something that the Dead by Daylight team is thinking about, but no specifics were discussed on the fourth-anniversary livestream.

Crossplay is huge for players with friends who game on different platforms, especially after the Dead by Daylight team announced that Silent Hill's Pyramid Head would be coming to the game as well as other new characters and the Midwich Elementary School map. This new content is currently available on the PC test servers, and hopefully cross-play features will soon follow.

Dead By Daylight is available on PC, Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and mobile.
