Version 10.0.3 is now available for the Nintendo Switch. While not much changed from the previous update, Nintendo is still working to improve the console’s performance, even in small additions like this, one patch at a time.

Since its worldwide release in 2017, the Nintendo Switch has sold nearly 56 million consoles worldwide. Due in part to the spread of the Coronavirus, the system has been soaring in popularity and making it difficult for people who are trying to obtain the console. While Nintendo is trying to fill that gap currently in the market, the company is making sure that those who already own the console are getting a better experience by fine tuning the system.

The Nintendo Switch’s 10.0.3 patch notes consist of just one sentence: “General system stability improvements to enhance the user’s experience.” The patch’s wording is not very clear about what the patch is specifically referring to, but while users may not quite be sure what the “general system stability improvements” entail, the phrase usually signifies positive changes for the console. The update has likely been downloaded on most Nintendo Switch consoles, as this is usually an automatic process as soon as Nintendo sends out the patch. However, if a player’s console didn’t automatically update with this patch, the user can manually start the update from the System Settings menu.

The previous patch on April 30, 2020 applied changes in the same vein while also fixing an issue with the Pro Controller. The last big update for the Nintendo Switch was the 10.0.0 patch which was issued back in April of 2020. Since the 9.0.0 update came out all the way back in September 2019, it is unsure when users can expect another large firmware update for the console.

Since this isn’t a whole number update, it makes sense that this change for the Nintendo Switch doesn’t have much. While players may have been wanting more from the update, they will have to wait a while longer for more from the next patch. Hopefully these incremental updates will pave the way for bigger innovations for the system’s next notable firmware update and future games on the platform.
