Minecraft Dungeons is looking to bring the isometric dungeon crawler to a more accessible level this week at launch. While it's looking to make a fun and easy take on the action role playing game, it doesn't mean it's forgotten the king of the genre.

With Minecraft Dungeons just days away from its May 26 launch, early review copies are out there and some players are finding amazing little details. One that is getting traction is a reference to Blizzard's Diablo 2, considered to be the best game of the genre and an important influence on all that have come after.

The following information contains end game spoilers. Players wanting to go into Minecraft Dungeons blind may want to turn away.

The easter egg was found by the Lords of Gaming website who discovered a secret area that directly references a similar section in Diablo 2. Lords of Gaming details the requirements to achieve the easter egg. After completing the game, players will have to return to camp where they can now cross a bridge that has finally been released. Enter the new church and head over to the painting of the dog and keep pressing as it cycles through pictures. These images along with sounds are clues to finding a set of runes in levels. Upon finding the runes, head back to the church and press a hidden button to be transported.

By this point, any fan of Diablo 2 has likely guessed what is coming next. Minecraft Dungeons recreates the infamous Cow Level from Diablo 2, an easter egg that lives in infamy. Players are set against hordes of Cows just as they were in the 2000, albeit with a more blocky visualization. Minecraft Dungeons is just the most recent game to tackle the easter egg and it might not be long until players will get another whirl at the original version of the "Cow Level". Rumors have been swirling about a possible remaster of Diablo 2 by Vicarious Visions, the team working on the upcoming Tony Hawk Pro-Skater 1+2.

As for Minecraft Dungeons, it's currently approaching release with reviews ranging from mixed to favorable. The Mojang and Double Eleven co-developed dungeon crawler has been putting fun first and balance later. Taking a more accessible and kid friendly approach to a genre that has always been skewed towards older gamers.

Minecraft Dungeons releases May 26th for PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One.
