Blizzard has announced the dates for the annual Overwatch Anniversary event. From Tuesday, May 19 to Tuesday, June 9, Overwatch fans can participate in all the Anniversary event activities, which, like usual, will include a variety of new skins players can add to their collection.
So far, Blizzard has officially revealed two of the skins Overwatch players can unlock as part of this year's Anniversary event. This includes the Little Red Ashe skin, which makes Ashe look like Little Red Riding Hood, and Bob look like the Big Bad Wolf. Blizzard has also revealed the Masquerade Reaper skin, though details on the other new Overwatch skins coming as part of the Anniversary event have already leaked online.
Along with the skins Blizzard has already revealed, Overwatch fans can also unlock a Dragoon Mercy skin, along with Carbon Fiber Sigma, Fleur de Lis Widowmaker, and Masked Man McCree. While Little Red Ashe, Masquerade Reaper, and Dragoon Mercy will be unlocked through Overwatch's loot boxes, Carbon Fiber Sigma, Fleur de Lis Widowmaker, and Masked Man McCree will be unlocked by winning nine matches in a week.
The big draw of the Overwatch Anniversary event is that it makes all of the previously released cosmetics available for players for a limited time. This includes past seasonal skins, like the Summer Games skins, or the Halloween Terror skins. The Overwatch Anniversary event always marks the best time for fans of Blizzard's hero-shooter to unlock new cosmetics and fill out their collection, and so anyone who is missing anything they want should be sure to participate while the event is live.
Looking ahead, the next big seasonal event in Overwatch is the Summer Games, which will bring with it the return of Lucioball and likely see the addition of even more new skins for fans to collect.
If the Overwatch 2 release date rumors are true, then the Summer Games may very well be the last seasonal event before the sequel launches. Leaks have claimed that the Overwatch 2 release date is some time this fall, though Blizzard itself has stayed quiet on the subject. More information should come to light in the months ahead.
