Yes, it’s true, Population Zero marched its way into early access this past week. It then promptly apologized for how the early access launch has gone thus far, which shows a genuine humility and willingness to adapt. Whether or not that’s going to be enough to propel the game to stardom, so to speak, remains to be seen; still, it’s a nice dose of humility all the same.
Other beta news? There’s some, sure.
- The beta for Book of Travels began on May 5th. If you backed the game? Well, you’re booked into traveling.
- We’ve got to wait longer on New World, but as we do so we get a chance to learn more about the game’s factional PvP, so that’s all right.
- Ongoing alpha developing has been shown off for the upcoming Mad World, and now you’re frustrated because the Gary Jules cover is stuck in your head.
- If you’re in the World of Warcraft: Shadowlands beta, you can make use of the in-game controller support now in testing, so that might be fun.

As always, we consider an MMO to be in open testing if it features free, public signups and will server wipe prior to launch. An MMO is marked in closed testing if it’s running a private test phase that cannot freely be accessed by the general public; it’s usually under NDA as well. Early access and crowdfunded MMOs whose tests we deem legitimate will be included. So-called “open beta” soft-launch MMOs with cash shops, no sign of launch in the west, or limited interest for our readers will not be listed; we also do not list expansions, with occasional exceptions.
