Amazon and Relentless Studios have been working on a multiplayer third-person shooter named Crucible for the last few years, and the developer just recently unveiled a brand new trailer for the game. Crucible will be launching in just a few weeks for the PC, and the new video reveals info on what players can expect.

In early April, Amazon confirmed Crucible's launch window and gave an inside look at what Relentless Studios has been working on. With a release on May 20 of this year, this newest trailer showcases gameplay, multiple game modes, and some details on the lore of Crucible.

The video starts out by explaining that players will be fighting in team-based battles against other online opponents. The footage displays gunplay and various characters duking it out. Players won't only be fighting against human-controlled adversaries, however, as the world of Crucible itself is rather dangerous and filled with monsters and creatures. At a glance, these elements look similar to the promising but disappointing Evolve.

The characters, named Essence Hunters, that can be selected seem to each have their own abilities, similar to the MOBA movement entering many team-based shooters over the past decade. The cast is made up of soldiers, criminals, and rogue agents of all species types. In some ways, Crucible could be Amazon's answer to games like Overwatch and Valorant.

Three modes were shown off in the trailer. Heart of the Hive has two teams of four collecting "hearts" against one another. Alpha Hunters is a duo mode where the last team standing wins, sounding like it has battle royale elements. And lastly, Harvester Command sees two teams of eight fightings over control spots on the map.

Amazon Game Studios needed to lay off developers last year, so Crucible seems to be an important title for the company. PC players will be able to try out this new team-based shooter on steam in just a few weeks.

Crucible launches on May 20, 2020, for PC.
