War! Huh! Good God, y’all, what is it good for? Capturing the other faction’s territory in New World, it seems. While last week we were graced with a video about war that made some… claims, perhaps some ill-informed ones, the new development entry on the official site just discusses the mechanics of invading and capturing an enemy territory. Once a territory is sufficiently weakened, one faction gets to lead the war effort, and participants from the company within said faction get to fill up the attacking side with possible volunteers from other companies or even the game’s third faction.

The defender gets to select the time window for the defense, at which point a 50v50 battle breaks out for control of the main fortress. Attacking forces work to capture rally points, break down the gates, and capture the heart of the fortifications, while defenders… well, try to stop that, obviously. You can check out the fine details as well as the various siege weapons available to attackers and defenders in the full development entry. So that’s another thing war is, apparently, quite good for.
