While fans are eagerly awaiting Cyberpunk 2077, those looking to visit a gritty, dystopian world littered with advanced technology can turn to HuntdownDeveloped by Easy Trigger Games, the platformer follows bounty hunters on a quest to take down the various mobs that currently terrorize the player's city.

Huntdown first appeared at PAX East in 2017. Now, the gritty sci-fi game is coming to the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on May 12. The developer's announcement also came with a new trailer from PlayStation for the upcoming release. Unlike the photorealistic graphics of other titles, this indie game uses a retro art style to depict the future.

According to the PS4 trailer and the game's website, Huntdown allows players to play as one of three bounty hunters, named Anna Conda, John Sawyer and Mow Man. The platformer also unveiled the four gangs players will face. From the trailer, it is clear that Huntdown is drawing on nostalgia with its 16-bit aesthetic and comedic writing.

Huntdown looks like it will successfully capture cyberpunk's retro-futuristic vibe in the Eighties. Fans who want to learn more about the genre before Cyberpunk 2077's arrival in September should turn to this title. The game's availability across various consoles also demonstrates the many opportunities indie games have to succeed today.

Huntdown will be available on May 12, 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch.
