Assassin's Creed Valhalla was finally officially revealed this week, and fans all over are excited for the next chapter in the series. A few of the rumors and leaks leading up to the reveal have now been confirmed, including the fact that Assassin's Creed Valhalla is based on Viking-life and soaked in Norse history.

Players will take control of Eivor and set sail from Norway to England in Valhalla, raiding and pillaging along the way, and making a settlement in the British Isles. Norse history is very rich, and just as the Assassin's Creed franchise has always done, Valhalla will look to historical information to pull from to make the game a unique and breathtaking experience. This much is clear from the Collector's Edition.

The Secrets of the Valhalla Collector's Edition

Just as soon as the game was announced, Ubisoft laid out the particulars surrounding the Collector's Edition for Valhalla. There is a lot to unpack in the bundle, but there are also helpful hints that show what Valhalla may look like as a final product. Each detail of the Collector's Edition, from the large state of Eivor to the in-game content, helps tell the story of Valhalla.

When Valhalla was first revealed, specifics such as the protagonist and the setting were confirmed. But with the game not being released until Holiday of 2020, fans are looking for any additional details.

An interview with Ashraf Ismael, the game's creative director, has also helped fill in facts about what this installment of Assassin's Creed will look like, including the idea that Valhalla will continue with the modern-day setting protagonist and that that hero will again be Layla Hassan (the modern-day protagonist of Assassin's Creed Origins and Assassin's Creed Odyssey). The Collector's Edition itself not only confirms some of the information that has been revealed in the announcement and or the interviews and questions, but it also shows off interesting tidbits that fans may not have been aware of.

Female Eivor Confirmed

The centerpiece of the Valhalla Collector's Edition may also be the most informative piece of the set. The 30cm Eivor statue reveals the fem protagonist in Valhalla. The cinematic trailer that was used to announce Valhalla only showed the male Eivor protagonist. However, just like Assassin's Creed Odyssey, players will be able to choose between a male and a female protagonist for Valhalla. It's definitely intriguing that fans are able to see this female Eivor in replica statue form, even before she is shown in-game.

Fans will also find it important that both the male and female Eivor are canon in Valhalla. According to tweets from the narrative director of the game, Darby McDevitt, players will be able to select the male or female protagonist from the beginning of the game and their story will be told from then on. In Odyssey, the other protagonist would still remain in the story as an NPC, but in Valhalla that won't be the case, it seems. Because both characters are names Eivor, players simply select the female or male version, and then the story will begin.

Berserker and In-Game Content

Players who pre-order the standard game, or of course the Collector's Edition as well, will gain access to the Way of the Berserker exclusive mission. The mission is one that allows players to join a Berserker on a legendary quest for revenge. Berserkers are warriors within Norse history/mythology who fought almost in a trance-like fury, and they would wear animal skins and hunt down their prey with intense brutality.

The Collector's Edition pre-order also comes with The Berserker Ultimate Pack. This pack comes with the Way of the Berserker mission, but also includes Berserker Gear pack, which has a Berserker set for Eivor, a new axe and shield, a new skin for the raven companion, and a wolf mount. There will also be a new longship as a part of the content, along with the Berserker Settlement Pack and a Set of Runes. The Berserker content does show that Ubisoft is willing to lean towards mythological elements, as it did with Origins and Odyssey. Fans may still be wondering if Valhalla will lean more historical like Assassin's Creed 2 or Origins and Odyssey. Still, these bonus packs alone hint at content for Berserker style gameplay, customizable raven, and enhancements via runes.

The Ultimate Pack also comes with the season pass for Valhalla, which Ubisoft says will expand the experience with new lands to explore, new content, and new gear. All of this in-game content that comes with the Collector's Edition shows that Ubisoft will again most likely lean heavily on DLC-type content. The pre-order and bundles alone probably won't be where the developer stops in terms of added additional content via DLC. This was also the approach with some of the previous Assassin's Creed games, including Odyssey.

The Raven Companion

Sometimes the frequency of an item can hint at the importance of it. The raven companion is shown in four separate items within the Valhalla Collector's Edition. The raven will apparently be like Ikaros, one of the best animal companions in gaming, from Assassin's Creed Odyssesy. Ikaros is an eagle that can distract enemies, kill animals, and locate important points on nearby. The raven will most likely do much of the same, but the exact details are not yet known.

The fact that the raven shows up on the 30cm female Eivor statue, the 5cm Evior statuette, on art, and within the in-game content that comes with the bundle points to its importance. Within the history of Norse mythological creatures, there are two ravens named Huginn and Munnin, which translate to "thought" and "mind." These two ravens were the companion of Odin himself and flew around seeking news of men. It's possible that the raven companion will be named Huginn or Munnin, and have unique abilities part from Ikaros in Odyssey.

Eivor's Drakkar and Settlement

As a part of the beautiful 30cm Eivor statue, many fans will see the Viking Ship that she is sailing on. A Viking's Drakkar is one of the most important belongings, as they use their Drakkar to sail the seas, explore, and of course, plunder.

Many fans have wondered if Valhalla will be like Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag with naval combat. So far, it looks like traversal is guaranteed on the wooded ships across the sea, but ship battles may be toned down a bit from the Pirating adventures of Black Flag for example. Nonetheless, the Drakkar is still extremely important. One of the in-game bonuses with the bundle is a new longship, indicating that new sails, new figureheads, and new ships entirely can be unlocked and or upgraded. It would make a lot of sense for Ubisoft to include progression into the sailing element of the game.

The settlement feature in Valhalla will also play a key role in the game. Players will use their longships to travel and plunder areas across the British Isles, but returning back home to the settlement is very important, for both the story and gameplay.

Valhalla Collector's Gear

The Assassin's Creed Valhalla Collector's Edition also comes with tons of additional physical goodies for fans of the series. The game itself will come in a beautifully designed Steelbook. There will be a Collector's Case with gorgeous artwork. Three Lithographs will be a part of the bundle, showcasing more artwork. The soundtrack will be included, which may have the trailer song from the Valhalla reveal. And of course, the aforementioned 30cm statue and 5cm statuette will be a part of the set. All of this is topped off with a Premium Certificate of Authenticity that will have the exact serial number of the Collector's Edition that the fan purchased.

Much of the Assassin's Creed Valhalla Collector's Edition is similar to the content that was made available in the Collector's Edition for Assassin's Creed Odyssey. Some parallels would be the in-game content, as Odyssey's also came with a special exclusive mission, and season pass. The soundtrack, artbook, and Steelbook were also all parts of the Odyssey version. Some key differences are that the eagle Ikaros was nowhere to be found in the Odyssey bundle, while the raven companion is seen many times in the Valhalla version. Odyssey's statue focuses on combat, while the Valhalla statue seems to focus on exploration and travel.

The Collector's Edition for Assassin's Creed Valhalla has tons of great content for those who are super-fans of the series. And even for those who may forgo the beautiful bundle, the information it provides is very interesting in providing hints at what to aspect moving forward.
