The world of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare continues to evolve each week with the latest update changing up playlists and adding a number of new things for players to check out. New bundles are available, including one with a flaming knife, and the ever popular Shoot the Ship 24/7 playlist has made its multiplayer return. However, one the biggest and strangest changes seems to have come to the Warzone game mode.

After downloading the update, Call of Duty: Warzone players have started to come across a new item dropping from defeating other players or randomly in other places. The Red Access Card can be looted and held on to, but their purpose continues to mystify players. At this time, no one has been able to figure out just what to do with them.

Naturally, speculation has already begun with some fans connecting these access cards to the bunkers that have been spotted all around the Verdansk map. These mysterious locations started appearing in March, though they're code locked. Fans have begun to believe that these access cards could be the start of finding out the full access codes to break into these vaults.

While the game isn't ready to reveal its secrets quite yet, one player was able to glitch inside these vaults using drones. Unfortunately, these bunkers remain as much a mystery as they were prior to glitching inside as the player only found a short hallway and not much else. At the time this was done, it's highly likely that the bunkers were left unfinished by Infinity Ward, though nearly a month later, it's possible that this could now be a different story.

Whatever the case may be, this event could play into the evolving narrative that Infinity Ward's narrative director Taylor Kurosaki has previously mentioned. Warzone technically takes place after the events of the campaign, with snippets of story being shown through seasonal trailers with Ghost and Alex working to discover what's going on in Verdansk. According to Kurosaki, the studio plans to do more with this story line, introducing smaller scale events in Warzone that will help push the narrative forward. These access cards may be related in some capacity.

Call of Duty: Warzone is currently available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
