The upcoming patch 5.3 for Final Fantasy XIV might be taking a little longer to arrive than originally planned, but it’s still on the way for early July at the latest, and it’s going to be wrapping up the major story of the Shadowbringers expansion. What will that include? Well, a secret trial against an as-yet unrevealed opponent and a new dungeon, The Heroes’ Gauntlet, along with more quests to wrap up this bit of storytelling. And as we all know, when the identity of the trial is hidden, it’s going to be a big one.

Outside of that content, though, the next patch is still huge, featuring the next installment of the YoRHa raid in the Puppets’ Bunker, new Dwarf Beast Tribe quests for crafting, new custom deliveries, more Ishgard Restoration, a new large-scale instanced area for improving your relic weapons in the Bozja Southern Front, and so on. The patch is also revamping and streamlining the original MSQ, with many quests removed and many more made more streamlined, as well as adding flight to the old zones and now requiring completion of the Crystal Tower series. It’s only the first preview and players have a while longer to wait, but this should be enough to get people hyped up for the future when the patch arrives.
