Nintendo Confirms Breach Of 160,000 Nintendo Network ID Accounts

by Matthew Kato on Apr 24, 2020 at 09:45 AM

Nintendo has acknowledged the breach of approximately 160,000 Nintendo Network IDs earlier this month, resulting in the possible exposure of some users' personal data such as their nickname, date of birth, and email.

As a result, Nintendo has disabled the ability to login to Nintendo accounts via a Nintendo Network ID for the time being.

Although credit card information was not a part of the breach, some users have reported unauthorized purchases through the linked payment methods associated with their accounts.

Nintendo is currently investigating the matter, and it has no evidence that Nintendo's databases, services, or servers have been breached.

The company says it will contact people with affected accounts to reset their passwords, and recommends that all users use two-factor authentication on their account to notify them of any unauthorized access.
