Although the Far Cry series has had an astounding number of eccentric villains who players have come to love, fans of the franchise almost unanimously agree that most pale in comparison to Far Cry 3's antagonist, Vaas Montenegro. The main face of the series third entry, Vaas went on to become one of the most widely hailed parts of the game, with his role going on to shape the formula that Far Cry antagonists would follow going into the future.

It seems the importance of the role hasn't been lost on the man who brought it to life either, with Michael Mando discussing his performance of Vaas in a recent Reddit AMA. While the actor has gone on to find a lot of prominence through his role as Nacho Varga in Better Call Saul, he expressed how much he loved his time as Vaas, while also hinting that he might be able to reprise the role in the near future.

Being asked, "Do you still get recognized as Vaas or do more people see you as Nacho now?" Mando responded, "Vaas is my spirit animal - having co-created that character is something that will always be dear to me. I still get recognized as Vaas, and I still feel the outpouring of love for that character - makes me very happy." However, his next comment got his fans on Reddit incredibly excited, with Mando teasing, "Who knows... maybe I will reprise the role very soon? :P Thank you for watching."

Naturally, this seems to hint that Far Cry 3 fans will be seeing Vaas again very soon, with many speculating about how the character could pop up. Some have speculated that it could mean Far Cry 6 will act as some form of a prequel to Far Cry 3, which perhaps could put players in the shoes of Vaas or somebody connected to him, while others have claimed that it could indicate towards a traditional sequel, with many already doubting that the character's conclusion was as final as it first seems. Some have even claimed it could reference a future movie, which would definitely fit Mando's expansion into major on-screen roles.

Regardless, it seems Michael Mando could be returning in some form as Vaas in the future, which leaves a lot of room open to speculate. With Far Cry: New Dawn receiving a lot of criticism for its lackluster developments of the Far Cry mechanics and dull story, perhaps Ubisoft is looking to take Far Cry 6 back to the franchise's roots and resurrect its most iconic character to date.

Far Cry 6 is rumored to be in development.
