Blizzard's campaign of rolling out World of Warcraft Classic's original patches in phases continues. The Rise of the Blood God update is now live in-game, re-releasing the Zul'Gurub raid for World of Warcraft Classic players to adventure through once more. Zul'Gurub isn't all that's been released in World of Warcraft Classic, though. There's also new open-world bosses, the Stranglethorn fishing tournament, and the first hints of warning in Silithus.

Zul'Gurub is one of World of Warcraft Classic's most notable raids. The raid was first released all the way back in 2005 and was World of Warcraft's first 20-man raid. That's compared to the typical 40-man raids that came prior to it. Even with its lower player requirements, Zul'Gurub was packed with loot, featuring a full 5-piece armor set for each class and 120 Epic and Superior items in total. Zul'Gurub also features its own reputation with the Zandalar trolls.

Five years after it was released, Zul'Gurub was removed as a playable raid from World of Warcraft. This was due to World of Warcraft's ongoing story, which revamped Zul'Gurub into a new 5-man dungeon with new enemies and bosses. This is the first opportunity players will have to experience the original Zul'Gurub in near a decade.

In addition to Zul'Gurub, Blizzard is also adding the open-world bosses known as the Dragons of Nightmare. These are four green dragons corrupted by the Emerald Nightmare, each with their own loot pool of unique Epic gear. The dragons are each individually raid-level difficulty, and so offer even more end-game challenge for players to tackle.

There's more beyond Zul'Gurub and the Dragons of Nightmare, too. The Stanglethorn Fishing Extravaganza is always fun, offering players a fun diversion from the grind of raiding or the PvP Honor System. And of course, Silithus has something strange being stirred up. The Ahn'Qiraj event is approaching. It's just a matter of time before one of World of Warcraft's most memorable events is back and playable for Classic subscribers.

World of Warcraft Classic players can experience all of the new content in-game right now. This isn't the final update for World of Warcraft Classic, of course. There will be more instances, raids, and PvP content rolled out in the months and years to come. So long as there are World of Warcraft Classic players, this great throwback experiment will continue moving forward.

World of Warcraft Classic is available now on PC.
