Final Fantasy 7 Remake might not be out until tomorrow, but since plenty of professional gaming outlets have already played the game, a lot of information regarding the game’s gameplay is making its way online ahead of time, and that includes the remake’s approach to Limit Breaks.

For the newcomers reading this, Limit Breaks are special abilities that can be used in battle once a Limit bar is filled. Each of the game’s four playable characters comes with their own unique Limit Break, and these can range in use from causing massive damage to enemies to healing the entire party. While each character starts off with one Limit Break, it’s possible for players to unlock more, if they know where to look.

Where To Unlock Level 2 Limit Breaks

Just to clarify, players will only have access to one Limit Break per character for a fair chunk of the game's runtime, but once they reach Chapter 9, they’ll come across the Corneo Colosseum. This is one of FF7 Remake's new locations, located inside the mansion of crime boss Don Corneo, and it’s here that players will be able to start earning new Limit Breaks.

It should be noted, though, that players who are just focusing on plot will risk missing these entirely, as they are tied to optional activities that unlock once the story stuff in the Colosseum is taken care of.

How To Unlock Level 2 Limit Breaks

Once Chapter 9’s story objectives are met, players will be able to take on additional fights in the Colosseum. Among these are special battles where players only play as one character, which are labeled “Cloud vs,” “Tifa vs,” and so on. Winning these will reward players with that character’s Level 2 Limit Break, and from there they’ll be able to swap between the different Limit Breaks at will in the character menu.

Players will definitely want to get their hands on these Limit Breaks as soon as possible, because while Level 2 Limit Breaks take longer to charge up in battle than the standard ones, they make up for it by offering a substantial boost in power. With how hectic Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s updated combat can get, it will help players to have a few extra heavy-hitting options at their disposal.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake comes out on April 10 for the PS4.
