As with many RE games, the first weapon aside from the pistol players can find in Resident Evil 3 is the shotgun. It's pretty easy to spot during one of the early game objectives, but unlocking it is a little different.

There are a few key details Resident Evil 3 players will want to know, namely where to find it and how to open its case.

Where is the Resident Evil 3 Shotgun

Early in the game, within the first twenty minutes or so, players will be tasked with putting out a fire in an alleyway to progress the story. They'll need to explore the streets of Raccoon City and find the Kite Bros. Railway building, at the end of which will be a fire hose to progress the story. Within this building, in a reception room just around the corridor, players will spot the shotgun in a locked gun cabinet. It's locked, however, with a yellow chain that prevents players from unlocking it.

At this point, players will just need to snip the chain with the bolt cutters to unlock this Resident Evil 3 weapon, but that first requires players to obtain the bolt cutters.

To get the bolt cutters, players will need to do some doubling back. Players can use a nearby staircase to get on top of a building, drop a ladder, and be right back at the aforementioned alley on fire. Putting it out with the hose will lead players to a Safe Room, in which they'll find the bolt cutters hanging on a wall. Grab the bolt cutters, save the game if so desired, double back up the ladder to the Kite Bros. Railway building, and use the bolt cutters to gain access to the shotgun.

Ammo for it is scarce, and it only has 4 shots. However, it does wonders in the early game, dropping foes aside from Nemesis with relative ease. After this, it's time for players to restore power to the Subway Station.

Resident Evil 3 is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
