As of 12 PM EDT on April 2nd, players of Bethesda's online post-apocalyptic role-playing shooter Fallout 76 will be receiving a staggering three times as much experience as usual. The event, which lasts only until 12 PM EDT on April 6th, serves as a good opportunity for any prospective Fallout 76 wastelanders looking to speed up grinding.

The XP bonus weekend was initially "announced" via a tweet on April 1st, which casually mentioned that the developer "might mess around" and triple XP rewards the following day, in what at the time seemed to be a potential April Fools joke. Apparently the statement by Bethesda wasn't a joke, as later specified by subsequent tweets and a bethesda.net post released the next day.

Like many online games, Fallout 76 is no stranger to double XP events. However, bumping the experience multiplier up to times three is something new for the game. The best part about it is that the bonus is active across all game modes. So fans who prefer Adventure Mode, the battle royale mode Nuclear Winter, or playing on private worlds can all participate equally through their own method of choice.

As mentioned by the post on bethesda.net, this brief window of time is a good opportunity for anyone looking to start a new character in advance of the upcoming Wastelanders update. Even for players not prioritizing XP gain, the event will likely provide plenty of experiences nonetheless, since the servers will almost certainly more full than normal.

Fallout 76 is currently available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
