Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was the top-selling game of 2019, but there are still those out there who have yet to play it. With that in mind, Activision has decided to give potential buyers a taste of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare by letting everyone play the multiplayer completely free of charge for a limited time.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare free weekend begins on Friday, April 3 at 10am PT and will be available until Monday, April 6 at 10am PT. In the interest of ensuring those that participate can get the best idea of what to expect from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare's multiplayer, Infinity Ward is also introducing a new playlist to coincide with the free weekend called "Stocked Up, Locked Down."

This new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare playlist features two distinctly different multiplayer maps in Shoot House and Atlas Superstore. Shoot House is one of the smallest maps in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and it has been one of the most popular maps in the game since its release. Atlas Superstore, meanwhile, is a larger, 10v10 map, so it should provide a markedly different experience for those taking advantage of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare free weekend opportunity.

The Modern Warfare Stocked Up, Locked Down playlist features a variety of game modes for players to try as well. This includes standard Team Deathmatch, Kill Confirmed, Domination, Hardpoint, and Headquarters. Modern Warfare free weekend players will be able to customize their loadouts to adjust for the different tactics needed in each mode, just like in the full game.

Once April 6 at 10am PT comes up, the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare free weekend will be over. At that point, anyone that still wants to play the game will have to pay for it, but they'll get access to a lot more than just the multiplayer. Purchasing the full version of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will net players access to the Spec Ops co-op missions and the single-player story mode on top of the popular multiplayer component.

In the meantime, those who can't afford to buy Modern Warfare right now can still get the Call of Duty experience free through the Warzone battle royale, which has proven to be immensely popular so far and will likely become even more popular as the weeks go by.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
