The coronavirus outbreak has created a tumultuous atmosphere of worry and cancellations, seen fairly early on with the NBA. With the season suspended indefinitely, many basketball fans turned to games like NBA 2K19 to scratch their pro season itch, although the suspended season caused a bug in 2K19 that has made that difficult.

With so many people staying home and itching to get the most out of their games, the microtransactions in games like NBA 2K19 and 2K20 are proving even more lucrative than normal. This has begun a revenue surge for the video game industry, including the above mentioned NBA games' owner, Take-Two Interactive, which also operates and profits from Red Dead Online and Grand Theft Auto Online.

Take-Two has proven to be surprisingly helpful during the COVID-19 shutdown, as professional basketball players are using NBA 2K20 to close out the official pro season of the NBA. Beyond this, Take-Two recently announced it will be donating 5% of the profits from revenue gained through in-game purchases in its most popular properties to various COVID-19 relief efforts.

Since part of it will go to those truly in need, now is a good time to do some spending in some of Take-Two's properties. Just be sure to read up on Grand Theft Auto Online before setting foot inside to stay up to speed with what's on offer.
