At the beginning of Fortnite season 2 in October, the vending machines were removed from the map. Vending machines traded materials for more advanced weapons, but the new device in town was the upgrade benches. The Fortnite upgrade benches took a little more time but were able to interact with virtually any weapon in player's inventory depending on how much material they had on hand. Now, it looks like gamers are finding hints across the map that vending machines may return in the next update.

On the subreddit FortniteBR, Reddit user Sheilabelila posted a video of a recent Fortnite Duo's game where both players heard the familiar hum: a vending machine that would have produced a minigun had the players reacted fast enough. However, the vending machine, unfortunately, blipped out of existence the moment SheilaBelila approached the machine.

This appears to be the first sign that vending machines are returning to the map. One Reddit user explained that this tends to happen when files for a new update are hidden within the game. "Basically you discovered a leak for a possible future placement," Reddit user XxWiReDxX explained. There have been several cases of glitches happening throughout Fortnite, and many are blaming cheats or mods. However, the more likely cause is all the updates that Fortnite goes through on a weekly basis. Fans will likely see another update in the near future.

Fortnite is available to play on Android, iOS, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
