Ever since the most recent entry in the Animal Crossing franchise debuted over a week ago, it has quickly become a lens for many to enjoy social gatherings during the period of self-quarantine brought about by the Coronavirus. Some have had wedding ceremonies on the game, others have simulated graduation, while most have simply spent time with their friends by hanging out on their virtual islands. It seems some, however, are looking to simulate very specific recreational activities, with one New Horizons owner setting up a community event where players can gamble on a notorious child's party game.

That game is none other than musical chairs, with a video surfacing on Reddit showing a competition set up by user Tetratara where six players compete for a massive cash prize pool. The contest in the video sees the pot reach a whopping 105,000 bells, meaning the player who manages to trump their opposition can finally take a big chunk out of their never-ending loan to Tom Nook.

The video itself sees the six players run something of a gauntlet across Tetratara's island, with the arenas the players do battle in changing as the number of seats decline. Tetratara then stands in the middle of the arena, playing a bamboo flute as the challengers run around them in a circle. As they stop and put the flute away, the players all run to a respective chair, with the results in the video turning out to be hilarious and oddly tense every single time. The first arena seats five, and is in a small garden housing log stumps for players to sit on, while the final arena features a single toilet for players to scramble for, making the climax of the contest even funnier.

Luckily for players thinking that Tetratara's idea looks like a lot of fun, they're currently offering for fellow New Horizons enthusiasts to join a Discord if they'd like to get involved and gamble some money on a tense game of musical chairs. No doubt it's a hilarious use of the game's system and a risky way to secure some hard-earned bells, so players who feel like winning it big in a competitive game of musical chairs should search for Tetratara's Discord sooner rather than later.

Adorable gambling aside, New Horizons has quickly become one of the most prevalent Switch releases to date, breaking sales records and generally becoming a prevalent discussion on social media. Despite the outbreak clearly becoming a source of anxiety for many, the title is providing users with some creative, cute, and infinitely addictive entertainment while the world slowly finds its feet once again.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
