The Nintendo Switch has become one of the most popular gaming platforms on the market since its release in the Spring of 2017. But now, there is a shortage of Switches because of coronavirus. As fans look to find them online, resellers are skyrocketing the asking price above the MRSP.

Nintendo may be looking to build on the success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which is the fastest-selling Switch game in the UK. Many new fans may be looking to pick up the console, but finding the Switch is proving to be difficult, as eBay currently has the standard Switch for sale for anywhere from $425 to $550 and up, though the asking price is normally $299.

Many events have been affected by the coronavirus, with E3 2020 being canceled proving to be the most profound. But in general, many have made the point that gamers are the ones who are already well-prepared for sequestering themselves and social-distancing. All they need is a gaming console, a fun game to play, and they are set. But it's certainly fair to call out the idea of taking advantage of this global pandemic to resell consoles at such a high price. One can hope that during these tough times, fans will be able to get their hands on what can become a stress-reducing and smile-inducing tool.
