It's a big week for Borderlands 3 fans. Thursday, March 26 will see the release of DLC 2, Guns, Love, and Tentacles: The Marriage of Wainwright & Hammerlock, and to help tide fans over, Gearbox Software has launched the limited-time Takedown Shakedown event.

The Borderlands 3 Takedown Shakedown event begins at some point later today and will end on Friday, March 27 at 8:59am PT. While the event is live, Borderlands 3 players that do the Takedown at the Maliwan Blacksite raid will have a better chance to get "items from their dedicated loot pool." The Takedown Shakedown event will be available for Borderlands 3 players across all platforms, but those who just recently picked up Borderlands 3 on Steam may have difficulties participating without maxed-out characters.

Luckily, Borderlands 3 Steam players will have many more opportunities to participate in events like this in the future. Gearbox has promised similar events will be coming to Borderlands 3 soon, so there should be plenty of content to go around.

The Borderlands 3 Takedown Shakedown event should keep some fans busy while they wait for the Guns, Love, and Tentacles DLC, but there is even more for fans of Gearbox's looter-shooter to look forward to in the near future. April will see the release of Mayhem 2.0 along with a new seasonal event called Revenge of the Cartel, both of which should provide substantial content when compared to the Takedown Shakedown.

So far, Borderlands 3's DLC plans do not seem to be impacted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but that could change in the future. Other video game studios have cautioned that things like DLC and even regular updates could be delayed due to staff being unable to get to work.

For now, Borderlands 3 fans have the big new DLC on Thursday to look forward to along with April's special events. The Borderlands 3 season pass promises at least four major story expansions, and so it seems likely that the third Borderlands 3 DLC will launch at some point in the summer, barring any delays due to the coronavirus or anything else. Fans will want to be sure to tune in to The Borderlands Show for more information on that front.

Borderlands 3 is out now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
