“This is a stressful time for many of us in the world,” begins a new blog post on the Path of Exile site. Because of the worldwide health crisis that COVID-19 poses, many PoE players are feeling down. But Grinding Gear is hoping to bring a bit of joy to everyone by gifting all players on PC, PS4, and XB1 with a free Thaumaturgy Mystery Box. The box just made its debut in the game on March 14th and ordinarily requires premium currency to purchase. Each box can contain one of a number of cosmetic items including items from the “Scientist” or “Project” microtransaction lines.
Here’s how to claim the free box:
- Log in to PoE
- Open the in-game shop
- Viola! The box will automatically be added to a player’s account
Developers are keen for players to understand that the free Thaumaturgy Mystery Box can only be claimed from the game. “Visiting the shop on the website does not trigger the free box.”
