Chronicles of Elyria releases a playable pre-alpha obstacle course

Chronicles of Elyria has a lot of aspirations, like creating a persistent world where everyone plays a role in an epic, ongoing storyline. Up to now, though, none of that has been actually playable, with most of the meaningful effects players can have on the game’s developing world focused on selling digital land. That changes, though, with the first piece of playable pre-alpha content… in the form of a parkour obstacle course.

The so-called Trial of the Tested will let players test their medieval parkour mettle with tightrope and balance beam walking, wall running, ziplining, rope climbing and swinging, and diving over or sliding beneath small gaps. This not only lets players get a feel for traversal but will also put the procedural dungeon creator to the test, as each course will be different based on a selectable difficulty level.

If all of this sounds a bit out-of-character for the world that Elyria is trying to build, the announcement explains that this form of movement is useful when players explore dungeons or scale fortifications. This phase of pre-alpha testing will run for approximately three weeks and an NDA will be in effect.
