Destiny 2 developer Bungie has explained why some players are not receiving their weekly Trials of Osiris rewards after winning 3, 5, and 7 games within the re-released PvP mode. Apparently, the reset was a day off for Trials and players will only be able to earn new weapons and armor starting after today's (Saturday, March 21) reset.

On Friday, Destiny 2 players took to social media and forums to question why the usual rewards had not been unlocking when players hit their three different win milestones. At 3, 5, and 7 wins players are supposed to unlock either a Trials of Osiris weapon or armor that is rated at Pinnacle Reward level. However, many found that they never received a drop despite winning the required amount of games.

As it turns out, the Destiny 2 reset for Trials of Osiris' weekly challenges is unintentionally on Saturday and not Friday, when the PvP mode returns with a new map. This is likely because the 7-day challenge cycle needed to count the first Friday as a full day and so Saturday became Trials' weekly reset.

Unfortunately, this means that Destiny 2 players that want to unlock their Trials of Osiris rewards will have to play again. All they need to do is make sure that the wins come sometime after Saturday's daily reset and the Monday weekly reset, when Trials of Osiris goes on hiatus until next Friday.

While this is not a great solution for those players who spent all of Friday trying to unlock rewards without any luck, this is the only week that this issue should occur. According to Bungie, a fix will go live before next week's Trials of Osiris reset that will ensure players earn their rewards starting on the usual Friday.

Not everyone was unfortunate enough not to receive rewards, though, so there is a possibility of “double dipping” on loot for those players who did earn gear on Friday. Bungie won't confirm whether this is the case but it's worth trying if players want another shot at the Trials of Osiris shotgun, for example. Some PvP players think it is one of the best new Crucible weapons to come out of Trials of Osiris thus far, assuming that people get good perks on it.

This is by no means the first time that Destiny 2 has had problems with its reset – many will remember the double challenge resets of Year 2 – but it is still frustrating to those players for whom Crucible is a challenge. Getting to 5 or 7 wins is no easy feat for the casual player, even with a special Trials Passage, so having to do it all over again to get rewards is disappointing.

Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One.
